Jeweler/ Hand Engraver/ Designer
Tim Nelson was born and raised in the Midwest. Growing up with old world craftsmen, artists, and poets as role models instilled a strong work ethic, a perfectionist's eye, and a compulsion to create as a livelihood. This outlook and desire brought him to the University of Kansas, where he studied under Master designers, Silversmiths and Goldsmiths, eventually receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts with a major in Jewelry Design and Metalworking and a minor in Sculpture.
After spending so much time learning from the ancient to the contemporary, it was an easy decision to follow his path and his heart to the great city of New Orleans where past, present, and future blend into the cultural center it is known to be all around the world. Here he has found the unique opportunity to work for Symmetry Jewelers where he continues to learn from Master Craftsmen and studies old world jewelry making techniques, 3D CAD, and hand engraving.
"I draw inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci, to Victorian Design, to architecture and modern machinery. I never stop learning and refining my skills, and I hope to be a craftsman far into the future."
